What happened in Iraq – The Big Picture

Friday, March 31st, 2006

This Flash app shows you the violence in Iraq from late March 2003 through late March 2006, in the form of an animation. Each frame represents one day, and little explosions show up whose size indicates the number of deaths and the location is, well, the location.

Robots in disguise

Wednesday, March 29th, 2006

I don’t want to give a picture here, because the animation is too damn cool to spoil by showing you what to expect. It’s a semi transforming into a robot. I am the last person on earth (well, somewhere in the bottom 10% anyway) to be impressed by a fucking semi truck transforming into a robot, but this is just cool.

The movie (divx – if you don’t have a divx codec installed, install one). The movie is only about 10 seconds long.

Forum discussion (includes pics – if you don’t have divx and you want to see what this is about, looky here. Otherwise, I recommend watching the video first).

You CAN pick your friend’s nose

Wednesday, March 29th, 2006

At least, if this guy’s your friend, you can. He has a handy flash app to facilitate your nose-picking experience.

It’s interesting for all of 30 seconds, but interesting nonetheless.

George Bush don’t like mutha fuckin black people

Tuesday, March 28th, 2006

I’m at a loss to describe this. It’s a music video about Katrina… I had heard about it, but I had no idea how good it was. It’s worth listening to just for the music (this from someone who generally hates hip-hop), but the real genius is how it screws with your head. I *think* they’re sincerely criticizing Bush’s role in handling Katrina, but they go so over the top that it looks like a parody of a Bush criticism. Then again, the footage from the Katrina aftermath is too raw and heartbreaking for them to be mocking it. Then again, …

Well worth watching. Kick ass music requires sound.

My apologies

This neverending rain of zombie fu is brought to you by Paul Roberton’s Journal. He has tons of other great animated gifs there.

Pavlov’s dog has nothing on her…

Wednesday, March 22nd, 2006

My sister sent me this video of a baby who really likes the sound of running water. It’s well worth watching – I wish I could think of a way to describe it that doesn’t spoil it.

Sound helps, but you can get the effect just fine with it muted.

Thanks, Tina!

See what happens when you go a little too far abusing a game character…

Better with sound.

World’s Funniest Joke

site hit counterWell, I thought they were amusing, anyway.

Q: What do you call a black man flying a plane?
A: A pilot, you fucking racist.

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other, and says “Hey, does this taste funny to you?”

Two hunters are out in the woods when one of them collapses. He doesn’t seem to be breathing and his eyes are glazed. The other guy takes out his phone and calls the emergency services.

He gasps: “My friend is dead! What can I do?” The operator says: “Calm down, I can help. First, let’s make sure he’s dead.” There is a silence, then a gunshot is heard. Back on the phone, the guy says: “OK, now what?”

Thanks to Ryan (whoever the hell he is).
